James Dickey Review

Spring is an ideal time to get a copy of the latest James Dickey Review. Named for Georgia poet and novelist James Dickey, the book is a compilation of the original creative work of writers from around the world, as well as works that study Dickey’s poetry and fiction.

This edition is the largest of its size in its 39-year history, featuring the works of about three dozen contributors. Content includes an interview with the Rolling Stones Pianist Chuck Leavell, a poem by one of Dickey’s students in the 1970’s, and a variety of fiction, non-fiction, essays and book reviews.

“The amount of quality material submitted over the transom has been beyond an editor’s dream,” writes editor William Walsh. “This is evidence of the value of our work as editors and the reputation of the journal.” Walsh is also the Director of the MFA program at Reinhardt University. MFA students at Reinhardt collaborated with Walsh in key production roles, including managing editor.

The James Dickey Review is published every December under the auspices of Reinhardt University’s Etowah Valley MFA program. Its literary editors prefer creative writing that relies on vivid, sensory details and communicates the intensity of a real or imagined experience. Submissions can be sent to JamesDickeyReview@reinhardt.edu. Acceptance decisions are made by September.
